The threshold triggers for registrations in most of the states are when a developer develops new residential or commercial projects covering an area of storage measuring above 500 square meters or more than eight apartments.
What are the penalties for non-registration?
Non-registration can lead to severe penalties, fines up to 10% of the estimated cost of the project and also possible imprisonment for such continued non-compliance. Real estate agents and brokers caught facilitating sales of unregistered transactions may accumulate fines of up to ₹10,000 per day, aggregating to a maximum of 5% of the property's cost.
Is there a possibility to get an extension of RERA registration?
Yes, There is provision for extending registration for one year due to natural causes such as floods, droughts, or fires or as a consequence of war.
